Approaches to SDGs
TOPURA CO., LTD. suppot(s) the Sustainable Development Goals
SDGs is an abbreviation for "Sustainable Development Goals". It's an international goal to aim for a better world where people can live on the earth forever by 2030 which was unanimously adopted by the member states at the United Nations Summit 2015. Topura agrees with the SDGs' aim and will continue to work as a Topura group to achieve the SDGs.
We promote carbon neutrality.
- We use renewable energy by introducing solar panels.
(The average power generated by our solar panels in FY2020 was 22,603kwh.)
- We reduce energy consumption by introducing skylights, LED lighting, and adopting temperature settings for air conditioners.
We promote to use resources effectively.
- We encourage activities to reduce scrap generated in production processes and make effective use of metal resources. (More than 99% of product scrap is recycled.)
- By adopting machinery and equipment with high productivity and energy savings, we aim to develop environmentally friendly production with high efficiency in the use of resources.
(The CO2 reduction amount in FY2020, due to equipment renewal, was 2.39 tons and productivity improvement was 72.85 tons.)
We promote to recycle resources.
- We promote the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) on our waste (including paper resources and work uniforms) and reduce industrial waste.
(The amount of recycled paper in FY2020 was 23.5 tons, and recycled uniforms were 75 kg.)
- We reduce food loss by donating emergency rations before expiration dates.
(We donated 600 meals in FY2020.)
We promote to create a good workplace for employees.
- We have established an in-house educational program to encourage employees to enroll in distance learning courses and acquire skills.
(72 employees had taken the distance learning courses in FY2020.)
- By promoting robotization, labor savings, and IT, we reduce long working hours, eliminate heavy labor, and improve employees' work-life balance.
(Automatic conveyors were introduced at the Osaka plant from 2018 to 2020. In October 2020, flextime system was adopted.)
- We promote workplace safety and we aim to create a workplace with a friendly atmosphere.
(We adopted a occupational safety and health management system, and a whistleblowing system.)
We support our local communities.
- We are accepting local elementary school students for tours of our plants.
(Students from 3 schools in Hadano city and 6 schools in Osaka city visited our plants in FY2019.)
- We are accepting internships.
(4 students were accepted at the Tokai plant in FY2016.)
- On the 60th and 70th anniversaries of our founding, we donated books to local libraries.
- Since 2006, we have been donating two wheelchairs per year to a neighborhood hospital and we will continue to do so.
- Since 2014, we have been cooperating with blood donation every year.
